Hike Black Balsam with a ranger

Written by

Blue Ridge Parkway rangers will talk wintertime during an easy, 1.4-mile hike at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 22, on the Art Loeb Trail at Black Balsam.

Rangers will discuss how wildlife prepare for the cold months and share winter camping safety tips for those who are excited about getting out in the cooler weather.

Meet at the Art Loeb Trail, about 0.6 miles off the Parkway on Black Balsam Road at milepost 420.2 in Haywood County. Bring water, sunscreen, good walking shoes and clothing for changeable weather.
