Neff painting exhibit at WCU

art neffWork by painter Edith Neff will be on exhibit through Jan. 31 in the Fine Arts Museum at Western Carolina University.

Neff’s figurative paintings capture moments from mythological stories that are repurposed with contemporary settings and attire. By modernizing mythological tales, Neff helps the audience to relate to these more readily as ordinary occurrances, rather than as fiction. This exhibition features a selection of her works from the permanent collections of the Asheville Art Museum and the WCU Fine Art Museum.

At our inception 20 years ago, we chose to be different. Unlike other news organizations, we made the decision to provide in-depth, regional reporting free to anyone who wanted access to it. We don’t plan to change that model. Support from our readers will help us maintain and strengthen the editorial independence that is crucial to our mission to help make Western North Carolina a better place to call home. If you are able, please support The Smoky Mountain News.
