Catch the Spirit hosts writing program

Catch the Spirit of Appalachia’s writing program will present stories, poetry and song in a fast-paced production at 7 p.m. Nov. 5 at the library in Sylva. A booksigning and reception will follow at 7:30 p.m.

The event will showcase the creative talents of Reverend Jack Hinson, Waynesville; Reverend Victoria Casey McDonald, Sylva; Hoyt Lucus; Bryson City; Reverend John Reed, Sylva; Nancy M. Pafford; Cherokee; Edwina Crowe Jones, Lexington; Kim May, Waynesville; Harold Sims, Cullowhee; and Matthew Baker, Franklin.

Other writers who will be attending are Doreyl Ammons Cain, “Learning to Fly;” Amy Ammons Garza who has written a trilogy about her family in Jackson County; Etheree Chancellor, “Seizing the Moment;” Dot Conner, “The Life and Time of Mary Jane Queen;” Victoria Casey McDonald, “The African Americans of Jackson County.”

Catch the Spirit has assisted in publishing a total of 38 books since 1996.
