Business and Education

• Mountain BizWorks Course, July 14. Students study how to craft a solid business plan: developing a mission statement, estimating startup and overhead costs, and learning about setting profit goals, cash flow, marketing, licensing and record keeping. The course also covers managing personal finances and the requirements of entrepreneurship, while providing direct, supportive feedback on participants’ business plans. Course starts July 14. Class will meet for eight consecutive Tuesdays from 6-9 p.m. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. • The Haywood Animal Welfare Association provides 800 pounds of pet food for the individuals and families each week. Therefore, HAWA needs cat and dog food (or funds for purchasing food). • The Jackson County Family Resource Center serves respite in the seven western North Carolina counties (Haywood, Jackson, Swain, Macon, Clay, Graham and Cherokee).
