The
Naturalist's Corner
Almost every morning for the last couple of
weeks, I look out across my yard at an armada of tiny, shiny green
helicopters hovering and maneuvering about a foot above the ground.
They seem intent. And they are — intent on love or maybe beetle
lust.
The shiny helicopters are June bugs or June beetles, Cotinis nitida.
The back of this inch-long rotund beetle glistens with a green velvety

"Big Loop"
My wife, Elizabeth, and I just returned this
