The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is recruiting for a variety of volunteer opportunities at Oconaluftee and Clingmans Dome for the upcoming season.

Volunteers are needed to work information centers and rove trails. These volunteers educate park visitors about natural and cultural features and help them plan their visits, such as suggesting hikes or points of interest in the park.

• Volunteers are needed at Clingmans Dome visitor contact station to work alongside Great Smoky Mountains Association employees in the bookstore from April 1 through Nov. 30.

Each volunteer will be asked to serve at least one four-hour shift per week.

Those interested must attend a two seven-hour orientation and training sessions held March 20 at the Oconaluftee Multipurpose Room.

• Volunteers are also needed to rove the trails and grounds around the Oconaluftee visitor center area. These volunteers walk the River Trail, Mountain Farm Museum and fields along U.S. 441 (where visitors are frequently stopped along the roadside to see the elk herd).
