Bluegrass jam celebrates 14th year

The Fines Creek Bluegrass Jam will begin at 4 p.m. on Aug. 26-27and at the festival grounds behind the old Fines Creek School on Fines Creek Road.

Steve Brown and Hurricane Ridge will open the festivities on Friday. Brown will also serve as master of ceremonies. Raymond Fairchild will be featured next, followed by The Troubadours, Hazel Creek and the Marcus Ireland Band. Dance groups appearing Friday night will be the Dixie Darling Cloggers and the Southern Mountain Fire Cloggers.  

The Saturday lineup will feature Balsam Range, Carol Rifkin and Paul’s Creek, the Hominy Valley Boys and the Marcus Ireland Band. Appearances by the Fines Creek Flatfooters and the Appalachian Cloggers will round out the evening’s entertainment.

The Fines Creek Community Association sponsors the event each year to raise money for its scholarship fund. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for ages 16 to 18. Both nights are $25 for adults and $15 for ages 16 to 18. Children under 16 are free with a paying adult.
