HCC to offer sound recording, engineering

Haywood Community College’s Workforce Continuing Education Creative Arts Department will offer an Introduction to Sound Recording/Engineering class on Mondays from March 2 through May 18.

Students will learn how to set-up and operate recording equipment. Instruction will focus on the components in the audio chain; including microphones, cables, amplifiers, speakers and more. Some of the concepts covered are: gaining structure in audio systems, room acoustics, and the principles of sound. These include amplitude, frequency, wavelength, velocity and phase.

Throughout the course, students will gain hands-on experience of methods that can lead to a career as a music producer or audio engineer. Instructor for the course is Max Hupertz.

Cost of this course is $70 plus a $10 supply/lab fee. Students must cancel participation at least one week in advance for full refund.
