Weigh in on Cold Mountain Game Land management plans

The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission is working on a plan to guide management at the Cold Mountain Game Land in Haywood County for the next 10 years.

A public meeting from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday, March 9, at the Haywood Community College auditorium in Clyde will gather public input for developing the first formal management plan for the 3,000-acre tract near Lake Logan.

“We are encouraging everyone who has an interest in Cold Mountain Game Land to attend the meeting to provide input on how the property is managed,” said Gordon Warburton, mountain ecoregion supervisor with the Wildlife Commission. “We hope to hear from hunters and anglers, but also from wildlife watchers, photographers, birders and others who use or have an interest in using these lands.”

A draft plan is expected to be released for public review within six months and a final plan adopted within one year.

In case of poor weather, the meeting will be rescheduled for Thursday, March 12.
