Working farmland protection plan being crafted in Swain

out farmlandSwain County farmers, landowners, and other interested individuals are invited to share their thoughts and idea on a new farmland protection plan to support agriculture in Swain County.

A public forum will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 31, at the Swain County Senior Center in Bryson City. A free dinner will be provided.

Attendees will be asked to share their ideas on the challenges facing agriculture in Swain County and what strategies might help protect the future of farming, such as conservation agreements, a community kitchen to produce farm products or new marketing strategies.
